Is ALDI’s new Designer Style homewares range really worth the spend?

We take a look at the monochrome Special Buys that are set to save you some serious green.

ALDI's Special Buys have amassed a cult following of bargain hunters in recent years, with shoppers often queuing hours before opening time in order to get their hands on new products.

The affordable supermarket has now set its sights on a slightly different market though, with the release of a luxurious new monochromatic homewares range.

Beginning today (Wednesday 14 July), ALDI will drop 3 Designer Style Special Buys collections, which include everything from salt and pepper shakers to washing machines.

The ultra-contemporary ranges are set to be a hit with minimalists – but will they be worth the buy?

With pieces ranging in price from $9.99 for basic homewares to $599 for an 8kg dryer, the Designer Style Special Buys are certainly more affordable than rivals on the market.

For instance, the SOHL marble coffee table (which appears to be the standout piece from the line) is retailing for just $199, while a similar table style will set you back $469 at Temple & Webster.

While the Temple & Webster design is certainly of higher quality, the ALDI version offers an affordable alternative that will still work to elevate your space.

Similarly, the $399 8kg front load washing machine likely won't be the best that money can buy, but it will offer renters and young homeowners a reasonable model within their budget.
