Christmas Day is on a Wednesday in 2019, and that's playing havoc with ALDI's Boxing Day schedule.

Normally, Wednesday is Special Buys day at the German supermarket giant, but that doesn't work when all the stores will be closed for the public holiday.

So ALDI is spreading its Boxing Day deals out, with the first lot of Special Buys going on sale before Christmas, on Tuesday 24 December, and others appearing on Saturday 28 December. (For Black Friday this year, ALDI ran similarly early with a Black Wednesday campaign.)

Making it even trickier, some brand name goods are also on sale from 18 December. The Christmas/Boxing Day catalogue is unusual in featuring well-known brands like Coke and Pringles, rather than the house brands which are ALDI's main business.

Below we've listed all the brand-name goods in ALDI's Boxing Day catalogue, as well as the typical price you'd pay for them elsewhere and the percentage saving for the discounted ALDI price. There are some solid savings to be found, with over 50% off for some soft drink lines.

Note that the discount prices for soft drink and snacks are solid, but not massively different from the specials you'll regularly see for these brands at Coles and Woolworths.

ALDI's Boxing Day catalogue does have lots of other bargains on offer for higher-priced items, but as they're store-brand goods, it's trickier to make a direct comparison.

For instance, ALDI has a 75-inch 4K Ultra HD smart TV for $999 on 28 December, which is much cheaper than the $1,300+ you'll typically see for that screen size. However, it's ALDI's own Bauhn brand, and thus not an apples-for-apples comparison.
