Apple AirPods 3: Everything we know so far
Apple is reportedly set to release 3rd Gen AirPods later this year, followed by AirPods Pro 2 in 2022.
Following recent rumours around the release of a 3rd Gen AirPods model, Bloomberg has reported that we could be seeing the updated design as early as this year.
According to the report, the AirPods 3 will be something of a hybrid between the ‌AirPods‌ and the ‌AirPods Pro‌, inheriting the Pro's shorter stems and wider charging case, but without the silicone ear tips and noise cancelling capabilities.
Additional rumours state that the AirPods 3 could potentially feature a new wireless chip giving the pair an extended range.
It's also expected that the new model will improve upon the battery life of its predecessors, which will be welcome news to Apple fanatics.
AirPods 3 release date
As the AirPods 3 are yet to be officially announced, there is no set release date for the earbuds at this stage.
However, all early reports state that the model will be coming later this year, with an official announcement from Apple expected later this month.
AirPods 3 price
A price point for the AirPods 3 is also still under wraps, with Apple remaining tight-lipped about the existence of the model.
Given that the 3rd Gen design sits between the AirPods (2019) model and the AirPods Pro, we can reasonably expect the price point to be somewhere in the middle of the two.
Currently, the AirPods (2019) retail for $249 with the standard charging case and for $319 with the wireless charging case.
The AirPods Pro are meanwhile priced at $399, making it likely that the AirPods 3 will be priced at somewhere between the $250 and $350 mark.
What about the AirPods Pro 2?
The Bloomberg report also revealed that a revamped version of the AirPods Pro is on its way.
While little is known about the AirPods Pro 2 at this stage, early leaks have suggested that the pair will be released in 2022.
