Or $220 from Sydney or Gold Coast.

It's been a while since we've seen an AirAsia sale so this one was a welcome sight. Long story short, it's on flights from Perth, Melbourne, Sydney or Gold Coast with fares starting from $129 each way.

Return, this comes up to $215 when departing from Perth or Melbourne or $220 when departing from Sydney or Gold Coast.

These sale fares are on travel from 4 May to 31 August 2017 and are available until 7 May 2017 unless sold out prior.

The last time we saw AirAsia drop fares to Malaysia was just last week when it was advertising $202 return fares from Perth to Kuala Lumpur. While that may make this sale seem on the pricey side, bear in mind that these $202 tickets were only for flights departing Perth. Beyond that, fares from Sydney, Gold Coast and Melbourne were over $300 return.

As AirAsia is a low-cost carrier, you will need to pay extra for luxuries such as checked-in baggage, in-flight entertainment and on-board meals but with a flight time of around 5 and a half hours, you may be able to do without all those bells and whistles. In case you're wondering, yes, these are direct flights, too.

Book: We found these fares on I Want That Flight here. You can book through them for the cheapest fares and to avoid the $10 credit card booking fee that occurs when booking direct with AirAsia.
