Air New Zealand has dropped its prices to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and they're now going from as little as $961 return out of Melbourne. These flights are in October and November, so they might be perfect for escaping the heat of Buenos Aires itself and going further south to Patagonia while it's nice and mild.

These are seat-filler deals, so they're going until sold out and almost certainly won't last long. Not only is space limited, but they're exceptionally well priced. Only two airlines regularly make trips from Australia to around South America, and Air New Zealand is usually the expensive option.

The downside is a limited range of seats and available dates, but the upside is shaving hundreds of dollars off the usual price. It's not always worth changing your travel arrangements just for cheaper flights, but these prices are well worth staying flexible for.

  • Melbourne to Buenos Aires - from $961 return
  • Adelaide to Buenos Aires - from $964 return
  • Gold Coast to Buenos Aires - from $967 return
  • Sydney to Buenos Aires - from $978 return
  • Brisbane to Buenos Aires - from $979 return

Sample flights include 3 November departure and 20 November return from Melbourne, 25 October departure and 13 November return from Adelaide, 8 November departure and 25 November return from the Gold Coast, 22 October departure and 13 November return out of Sydney, and 6 November to 20 November from Brisbane.
