Ken Hinkley's time in charge of Port Adelaide started in superb fashion. Fifth and then third in his first two seasons back in 2013–14 had fans dreaming of a dominant era.

Yet since then, the Power have well and truly stalled. Just one finals appearance in the past five seasons has Hinkley and the playing squad on notice.

With some talented youngsters like last season's leading goalkicker Conor Rozee joining a list of veterans with plenty left to give, the time is now for Port to produce.

Port Adelaide history

If you ask Port Adelaide fans, they will tell you about their incredible 36 premierships in the SANFL competition. For more recent history, the Power joined the AFL in 1997 during the league's period of expansion.

It didn't take them long to start building a competitive unit. By the turn of the millennium, they embarked on a successful period that culminated in their first AFL flag in 2004 under former coach Mark Williams.

The Power enjoy strong support and bumper crowds, but fans will be expecting a vast improvement on the field in 2020.
