The Giants were a shell of their old selves last year, falling from 2019 grand finalists to missing out on the finals with a disappointing 10th finish on the ladder. Their free-flowing, high-scoring game style came to a grinding halt under coach Leon Cameron.
This pre-season their luck hasn't improved greatly, with skipper Stephen Coniglio restricted to light duties after suffering concussion in an intra-club practice match. The Giants are also uncertain about a return date for Lachie Whitfield after he suffered a bruised liver.
With Aidan Corr, Zac Williams and Jeremy Cameron among the big names to depart the club, the Giants will need a number of players to raise their game if they are to return to the finals this year.
How to watch Greater Western Sydney Giants AFL matches
Channel 7, Kayo Sports, Foxtel iQ, Foxtel Now and the AFL Live Pass are all options for watching AFL games in 2021. We have put together a complete AFL viewing guide for you which breaks down all the details.
In Sydney, Channel 7 shows GWS and Sydney Swans matches, mostly on 7mate. It broadcasts between three and five matches per round on free-to-air. That leaves a host of matches only available via subscription.
Foxtel iQ, Foxtel Now and Kayo Sports have every game of the home and away season live. Out of those options, Kayo is the most affordable. A Basic subscription starts from $25 per month for use on two devices. For $10 more per month you get the option of a third screen.
On top of all AFL games live, you get access to more than 50 other sports. Kayo also has a 14-day free trial for new users and comes with a number of special features. SplitView, No Spoilers and Interactive Stats are just some of the options.

When do GWS play next?
The Giants only have a short history to date, but they had been on a gradual curve upwards since their tough early years. It only takes a look at fellow expansion club Gold Coast's troubles to see it's not always easy and the Giants' approach should be applauded.
They made the finals four seasons in a row before their shock free-fall last year. Coniglio concedes he spread himself too thin during his debut season as captain. His fascinating insight into being dropped from the side last year is revealed in Amazon Prime's seven-part series, Making Their Mark, in part detailing the club's horror 2020 season.
