Today we're sitting down with probably my favourite human being in the entire world that we've just met, but creator, makeup artist, style influencer and all around icon, Rowi Singh. So, what are the three products in your beauty bag that you simply cannot live without?

NYX Cosmetics Epic Ink Liner, like the liquid liner is the best. I've tried them all, it's just like, inky, chefs kiss, it's really good. Always a gloss, Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Hot Chocolit. And then I'll say gems, yeah. Like I use my Embellish gems but like, any gems just to add a little spice.

Oh, I've had these pants that I got in Japan, in 2016, and they are just like stretchy waist, flowy, like, silky, navy blue, fun home pants or dressed up, they look really good. It's like the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants but like the Rowi-hood of the Travelling Stretchy Pants.

Yeah, they're just really comfortable and I've had them for so long and they still look brand new.

What is the worst or stupidest thing you've ever bought online?
Rowi Singh
So I fell for an Instagram ad that was a scam.

What was it for?
Rowi Singh
It was like, 'Galaxy light up your room ball, galaxy fun, buy this', and I was like cool. And so I went, you know, I'm not that stupid, I went through the comments and the reviews were really good but they were all bots! I just didn't go one step further to check and it was like still new. So I got it and it was like the shittiest thing I've ever seen. It was like these pieces of plastic and you had to assemble them in like, a hexagonal shape.

Oh my god, my ex bought one of these!
Rowi Singh
All my friends are like "Oh Rowi, what did you buy?". All sitting there trying to assemble it like, we can't get it together. It was, it was a waste.

They look beautiful though.

Oh my god, and the photos? I'm like, "Oh wow, I want a galaxy room!". Now I'm like.

This is why I have trust issues.

Now this is why I spend, like if you're going to get like something for your home, just spend a little bit extra because you know it's, you're going to have it for a really long time. It's not just like a piece of clothing like, it's gonna be in your home for a while. Just spend a little bit more on home stuff.

This is a running theme that people's stupidest online shopping has been Instagram and Tiktok adds, so.

Stop it! They keep fooling me. I'm like, "I need that now!".

Shoppers beware. All right on a more positive note, what are your favourite brands to shop with online and why?
Rowi Singh
Oh, there's this really beautiful brand, oh it's so stunning, on a collections. They're like an up and coming independent South-Asian artist and they do like, really gorgeous like, mesh tops that like, cling to your body in the right way like really, really cute stuff. I actually want to wear it to my like, wedding reception but like, you know, make it a bit more modest for, for the oldies. But yeah, really, really beautiful stuff. Yeah.

And last but not least, what is your savvy shopping tip?
Rowi Singh
It's not even a tip, but just like, investing in like, really nice pieces that you know are going to like, sell for like, double the price and Depop. Because you're gonna get your money back like, it's a good investment. Like it becomes a good investment because you're like, this is a beautiful piece of clothing and it has a good, like, name to the brand. So.

You heard it here first, stop investing in shares, start investing in clothes. Done.

This is a little bit off topic, but do you have a TikTok or something on Instagram that has like, really popped off? Like, what has been your most popular posts?
Rowi Singh
I think it's always like, video content, which seems to be like, trending at the moment. It's like either home decor content on TikTok, really pops off. Like no one really likes my makeup over there. Their investment in makeup is like, but like the home content where I have like really beautiful like, fun colourful pieces in my home, dopamine decor like really over the top and I think people enjoy that because it just brings them joy because it's so colourful. That's on TikTok but then like, it's the really like, magical, fun, abstract makeup looks like the pearl look that I did. Like the, I did one with like, full flowers, I had a braid that was like, all the way down to my feet. That was like millions of views. And then I just did a recent one which was like, 'if Euphoria had a South-Asian character' and like, I think it hit home for some people because it's like yeah, where is that representation? Where is it? It's not, we're not asking for every single TV show to have like, some South-Asian representation. It's just that like, when there is representation, it's always like this meek and feeble, nerdy character. Like, where are the cool brown girls who are killing it on our main screens? That's what is missing.
I remember that video and not only did I think it was amazing, but I think I commented on it and it was like, "Them: how many times if you watch this", and then I was like, "Me: yes". It was beautiful and the messaging behind it as well is incredibly powerful.

Well that's the thing like, if it's no, if there is no representation, I can be the living version of that representation. Like, it's me, it's so many other people. So just got to keep showing up and, yeah, do my thing.
