A massive Velocity transfer deal is coming 1 May

Velocity is encouraging frequent flyers to avoid transferring points from partnered card and hotel programs until next month.
If you were planning on transferring your hotel loyalty or credit card points to Velocity, you might want to hold off for a few days. This afternoon Velocity emailed its frequent flyers with a warning to avoid transferring partnered hotel or card points to Velocity Frequent Flyer until 1 May 2018.
Why? Apparently Velocity has a record breaking deal on the cards for next month. The email to Velocity Frequent Flyers urges members to avoid transferring points from "card or hotel partners", but finder has confirmed with Velocity that the deal will also include Coles flybuys.
This is interesting considering that Velocity is currently rewarding frequent flyers with 100 bonus Velocity Points for every 2,000 flybuys you transfer until the end of the month. That would bring the total number of points to 970 Velocity Points after you consider the 0.43:1 points exchange rate, but we're betting that next month's offer will pose greater value. For more details regarding the current flybuys and Velocity transfer offer, check out last week’s finder Rewards Round-up.
At this point, we can predict that the partners included in the May transfer will include:
Card partners
- American Express
- ANZ Rewards and ANZ Business Rewards
- NAB
- Citi
- HSBC
- Suncorp
- Bank of Queensland
- Diners Club
- CardServices
Retail partners
Hotel partners
- Golden Circle
- Le Club AccorHotels
- Hilton Honors
- Starwood Preferred Guest
- IHG Rewards Club
- Choice Hotels
In November last year, Velocity hosted its World’s Biggest Points Exchange Expo. If you transferred points from card partners, retail partners or hotel partners, you could score a 15% bonus. ANZ cardholders also received an extra 15%, bringing their total bonus Velocity Points to 30%. Although Velocity hasn’t announced the deals of the promotion, it has promised that it will be a record deal. So we can assume the bonus points offer will be greater than the "Biggest Points Exchange Expo" offer.
“Velocity Frequent Flyer is urging its members to not transfer any points, including card, flybuys or hotel partners,” a spokesperson from Velocity told finder. “Next week, a record breaking points deal is on its way to Velocity Frequent Flyer members – a deal never been done before by the frequent flyer program. If you’re not a member of Velocity, this is the time to sign up ahead of this deal starting 1 May, it’s free.”
Until then start prepping your partnered reward points and keep an eye on finder for more details regarding the next Velocity transfer offer!
