Two people carrying a Christmas tree on the beach.

The clock is ticking to catch this week's Friday Fare Frenzy deals.

If you haven't cottoned on yet, time is of the essence to score yourself a cheap Christmas break.

Here's the goss: Jetstar's weekly Friday Fare Frenzy flash sale is on and in it are discounted fares over the peak silly season.

No joke. In it are flights from Sydney to Ballina Byron from $35 for travel between 9 and 25 December 2019 and flights from Sydney to Launceston starting at $49 for travel from 7-25 December 2019.

These are one-way fares with returns costing double.

Those are the winners in our eyes as you get to be away on Christmas Day – or part of it. Other fares in the sale that take in the summer break include Melbourne to Launceston from $39, Adelaide to Melbourne from $55, Sydney to Adelaide from $69 and Melbourne to Phuket from $209. Again, these fares are each way.

To book: Hit up Skyscanner to nab your cheap summer break or check out the full list of routes and fares in the table below.

We reckon it's safe to say at these prices these are some pretty hot seats that won't stay around for long. Especially since the sale ends at 8pm tonight.

How good are these Jetstar sale fares?

  • Price: Great. Lately the lowest Jetstar has offered domestic fares for is $35 a pop, which puts this right up there with some of the best prices the airline has to offer.
  • Airline: Good. As a low-cost airline your cheap ticket comes with your seat and carry-on luggage only. Need more luxury? Checked luggage, in-flight meals and entertainment can still be added for a fee.
  • Travel time: Great. All flights are direct. How good is that?
  • Weather: Great. There are flights available throughout summer, some even include the Christmas Day and Australia Day public holidays. You can use these to hack your break to get more holiday days on less annual leave.
