2022 is all about taking a step outside of your fashion comfort zone and into something bright, fun and daring.

Bright bags

This should come as no shock with the rise of brands like Poppy Lissiman that big, bold and bright bags are going to be the must-have accessory of 2022. After being in isolation for basically the last 2 years, people are wanting to experiment with brighter fashion choices and it's such a fun trend to see! Also expect to see different textures other than just leather including fringe, sequins and canvas.

Chains

As Tina Arena once sang, "I'm in chains" and in 2022 you will be too. Think belts, jewellery and footwear embellishments. Get locked, loaded and prepped to incorporate chains throughout your looks in 2022.

Crop blazers

Oversize blazers was one of the biggest trends in 2021 and it's not going anywhere. In fact, the trend is evolving into even more styles, specifically cropped blazers. Cropped blazers have become a huge street style trend in Paris, New York and London and they're about to take over the world. Style them with a pair of matching suit pants for an even more elevated look or some mom jeans if you're after something a bit more casual.

Very Peri

Each year Pantone announces a colour of the year and this year it's Very Peri. The company describes Very Peri as "a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red". Expect to see this shade scattered throughout trending clothing, accessories and footwear in 2022.

Oversized outerwear

As we mentioned, oversized blazers have had a big moment within the last 12 months and this style is going to roll out into all aspects of outerwear including knits, coats and jackets.

Sequins and shine

Probably my personal favourite trend for 2022 is that sequins and shiny fabrics are making a comeback. The more sparkle the better when it comes to this trend this year. Bright colours and neutrals are going to get an extra kick with all that glitters to make this year's top looks even more special. We're not talking cheap gold sequin dresses you'd only wear on New Year's Eve but elevated fashion looks like matching sequin suits and glitter mesh dresses. J'adore.

Emerald green

Pastel green was the colour of 2020. Forest green was the colour of 2021. Naturally, in 2022 it's emerald green's time in the spotlight. I have a sneaky suspicion that this colour will peak in winter and have some fabulous emerald green leather and silk fabric moments this year.

Mini skirts

With the rise of the 2000s aesthetic, it comes as no surprise that mini skirts will be making a comeback. As much as I hate to admit it, the trend will also be accompanied by an increased popularity in low-rise skirts too.

"School" shoes

Chunky boots were a big winter trend and as a result chunky leather "school" or "work" style footwear will be a big movement in 2022. Another trend that is a nod to the 2000s will see your wardrobe incorporate a focus on loafers and platforms.

Catsuits

Another one of my personal favourite predictions for this year is catsuits. While these will probably be a headache for your trips to the bathroom, catsuits are an incredibly chic and elevated style that I personally look forward to seeing worn this year.

We can probably thank the stylist of Bridgerton for this one but gloves are going to be a top accessory this year. Leather, mesh, suede, you name it, gloves are the new it thing.
