10 weird hotel amenities you’ll actually want to use

Vanity kits and coffee facilities have been given the flick. These hotels are setting themselves apart with weird and wonderful amenities that’ll surprise you.

Travelodge Sydney Airport has just opened its doors with a couple of novelties, including Australia's first silent check-out.

For slow risers who have to trek to the airport for an early morning flight, this check-out comprises of a poster where you can indicate your needs without uttering a single word. Such as "I need to pay my bill", "I need a taxi" and perhaps the most important for those early hours, "I need coffee”.

This quirky amenity got us thinking, what other weird hotel facilities are on offer?

Here's our top ten:

10 weird hotel amenities you'll want to use

1. Bacon-scented alarm clock @ Travelodge Sydney Airport, Sydney

On top of the silent check-out, guests can opt to be woken by the scent of bacon.

This idea was pitched as an April Food's Day joke but has since been turned into reality. It’s a programmable clock by Sensorwake that sets off bacon scents instead of an alarm for "a perfumed, enlightened and melodious wake-up".

Not a fan of bacon? No worries, the clock can also be programmed with the wafting smell of coffee.
